Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell & Technology Transfer (TT) Cell

The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell at Jagannath University (JU), Jaipur, functions as a dedicated unit under the Jagannath Innovation & Incubation Center (JIIC). It plays a pivotal role in cultivating a culture of innovation, supporting research, and protecting the intellectual assets generated within the university community. As an integral component of the university’s innovation ecosystem, the IPR Cell works closely with faculty, researchers, and students to foster innovation, ensure legal protection of creative work, and facilitate the translation of inventions into impactful applications.

Key Functions of the IPR Cell

  • IPR Awareness and Implementation: The cell organizes regular workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance understanding and awareness of Intellectual Property Rights among students, faculty, and staff. These activities foster an academic environment that values innovation and responsible knowledge sharing.
  • Patent Filing Support: The IPR Cell supports inventors in identifying patentable ideas and guides them through the complete patent application process. Assistance includes technical input, documentation, and financial aid to encourage protection and commercialization of novel inventions.
  • Legal Support and IP Protection: The cell provides legal advice and support for securing and defending intellectual property rights. It assists in resolving IP-related disputes and ensures compliance with relevant national and international IP laws.
  • Patent Procedure Guidance: From idea validation to the final patent filing, the cell offers personalized guidance to faculty, staff, and students. This hands-on support ensures that innovative ideas are protected and positioned for potential commercial success.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Through awareness drives, competitions, and interactive sessions, the cell promotes an understanding of the significance of IPR, copyrights, and ethical usage of intellectual content.

Objectives of the IPR Cell

IPR Cell Structure and Activities

The IPR Cell operates under the guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and is supported by the Jagannath Innovation & Incubation Center (JIIC). It hosts a variety of programs and events aimed at building a robust innovation ecosystem, including:

  • Extension Lectures on intellectual property, innovation, and technology transfer.
  • Workshops, Seminars, and Webinars focusing on design thinking, innovation strategies, patent drafting, and prototyping.
  • Entrepreneurship Promotion Activities that provide a platform for idea incubation, mentoring, and startup guidance.
