About the Council
The Student Council is a representative body of students that acts on their behalf in academic and co-curricular matters. It provides a formal channel through which the student community can share its views and concerns with the University. Throughout the year, the Council works to identify issues that affect students and to see them resolved, contributing to a healthy campus environment and to the all-round development of every student.
Objectives
- Represent the student body of the University in all official matters.
- Identify the issues students face and work with the University to resolve them.
- Convey the views of students to the University administration on any matter that affects them, and seek consultation where appropriate.
- Encourage students to take part in planning and organizing University activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Advocate for the interests of students with the University administration, faculty, staff and parents.
- Keep students informed about all matters that concern them.
- Consult the student body on issues of significance.
- Organize educational and recreational activities for students.
- Participate in developing the University's academic initiatives and promote them among students.
- Recognize students who contribute to organizing University activities.
- Propose initiatives to the administration that improve the quality of campus life.
- Maintain cordial relations, founded on mutual respect, with teaching and non-teaching staff and with parents.
Role in Academic Review
The Student Council also contributes to the University's academic review process. Class representatives gather feedback on the curriculum and submit it to the respective Deans and Heads of Department. These suggestions are discussed at the departmental Board of Studies meeting and are then placed before the Academic Council for consideration.
