Awareness Programme on “Women’s Health: Awareness and Action”
Objectives of the Activity:
The Expert Talk was organized with the following objectives:
- To promote awareness regarding preventive healthcare and lifestyle choices among women.
- To discuss the common health issues faced by women and their remedies.
- To encourage proactive health management and regular medical check-ups.
- To highlight the correlation between women’s health and family welfare.
- PO1 - Knowledge and Understanding: Demonstrate understanding of women’s health issues across different stages of life. Students gain theoretical and clinical knowledge about conditions related to puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and aging in women.
- PO4 - Ethical and Professional Practice: Demonstrate empathy, ethical awareness, and sensitivity toward women’s health concerns. Builds professionalism and patient-centered care while dealing with sensitive health issues.
- PO5 - Health Promotion and Education: Participate in creating awareness and preventive health programs for women. Encourages students to educate communities about lifestyle modification, ergonomics, and early screening.
Event Overview:
The Awareness Programme on “Women’s Health: Awareness and Action” was organized by the Department of Physiotherapy, Jagannath University on 14th October 2025 under the national initiative Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan. The event aimed to educate physiotherapy students about the significance of women’s health, preventive care, and the contribution of physiotherapy in maintaining physical and emotional well-being among women.
The guest speaker, Dr. Samiksha Gupta, Vice Principal, Jaipur Hospital College of Physiotherapy, delivered an engaging talk emphasizing the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, lifestyle modifications, and physiotherapeutic management of women’s health issues. The session provided a strong academic and community perspective, aligning with the department’s goal of promoting holistic learning and community health involvement among students.
Conclusion:
The expert talk on “Women’s Health: Awareness and Action” proved to be an enriching and insightful session for the students of the Department of Physiotherapy. It not only enhanced their academic understanding of women’s health issues but also instilled a sense of professional and social responsibility toward women’s well-being. The session emphasized the crucial role of physiotherapists in promoting preventive health care, early screening, and lifestyle modification among women across various stages of life.
Through the expert’s valuable guidance, students gained awareness about the importance of posture correction, ergonomics, and exercise therapy in managing and preventing conditions such as back pain, pelvic dysfunction, and postnatal complications. The talk also highlighted the need for empathy, ethical practice, and patient education as essential components of effective physiotherapy care.
Overall, the programme served as a platform to motivate students to engage more actively in community health initiatives and to contribute meaningfully to women’s empowerment through their clinical knowledge and rehabilitative skills. The Department of Physiotherapy aims to continue organizing such awareness programmes to nurture well-rounded, compassionate, and community-oriented healthcare professionals.
