Overview

The Faculty of Law, Jagannath University, Sitapura, organised an Inter-Semester Moot Court Competition on 29 October 2026 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) S.P.S. Shekhawat, Head & Dean, Faculty of Law. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shailesh Sharma and Dr. Alaknanda Rajawat. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from law students of different semesters and provided a valuable platform to enhance their legal research, analytical, and advocacy skills.

The competition revolved around a criminal case involving a fintech start-up, offshore money laundering, and the disappearance of an investigative reporter. Students presented arguments on complex legal issues under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), including proof of murder without recovery of the body, the last-seen-together theory, and the admissibility of electronic evidence. The competition helped students strengthen their legal reasoning, courtroom presentation, and advocacy skills.

The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony, during which the winning and runner-up teams were awarded. The programme ended with a vote of thanks to the university administration, judges, faculty members, and organising committee for their valuable contributions to the successful conduct of the competition.
