Tell us how life at Jagan Nath University helped you become the person you are and helped transitioned from a student to professional ?
I still remember the first day at Jagan Nath University where I was so happy for the fact that it's a huge campus and will be utilizing majority of time towards sports. I was a teenager like others with raw blood and sky was the limit and with a feeling that I am much more superior in knowledge than any other in the college, however with the passing time all my false perceptions fumed away and got mesmerized with the knowledge of faculty members. I dragged down all my false ego's and started taking guidance from faculty members and within a short period of span I have started observing positive change in myself. They nourished me like a small plant and helped me growing into a strong tree to face all the storms which were waiting for me in the outside world. Everybody supported me immensely/guided me with the knowledge and psychological behavior change to be a true professional. Jagan Nath University has a major contribution in my journey of a teenager to a professional.
What skills does it require to become a successful professional ?
Determination and willpower : Being a professional, one should have immense determination and willpower to sustain and excel in tough situations, taking too many decisions in the short time will reduce your decision-making ability.
For instance: Consider the journey of Yuvraj Singh (Cricketer) where he was so determined to come back to the filed after one of the deadliest disease and with immense willpower he overcame all the odds and returned to the cricketing field.
Make Goals : One should always aim for a goal/target that what she or he wants to achieve because even a bullet is a sheer waste without the target. Plan and execute on smaller goals to achieve the bigger goal.
Don't limit the knowledge : Knowledge and skills are the tools that earn you an income and help you achieve career goals. Hence make it a priority to constantly expand your knowledge. Train yourself to learn from various circumstances and inculcate the habit of widening the knowledge reach through reading/watching/observing and don't hesitate to get yourself mentored wherever required.
Inculcate the habit of asking questions : Irrespective of the fact that you are an introvert or extrovert, ask as many questions as you can as it will help you increase the understanding about the subject and will enhance your thinking ability to provide a better solution.
Don't work in Silos : One has said that half knowledge is far more dangerous than no knowledge, hence one should not limit themselves to their own profile, always joins the dots between the related processes which your fellow colleagues are performing and take end to end understanding of the subject.
Job opportunities in my field: There is bag full of opportunities in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) as irrespective of the industry barrier every organization does yearly budgeting & planning along with the cost/income analysis for which they always need the skillful hands throughout the year.
Leanings to be shared with students: The only key learning would like to share that hold on in the toughest situations/times of your professional as well as personal front and grow through from whatever you go through. Times will change and you will get your opportunity to excel and achieve your goals.
One last thought to share that as we believe its not the college name which helps us getting good opportunities, it's the good conduct of the students in the professional environment which helps college in building their goodwill.
