Professor Shishodia joined Jagan Nath University in June 2008 and became its first Pro-Vice-Chancellor in September 2008. Prior to his tenure at Jagan Nath University, Prof Shishodia served as Director, University Computer Centre ; Professor and Head University Science Instrumentation Centre at University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He was formerly Principal, University Maharaja College; Dean, Faculty of Science; Member Syndicate; Member Finance Committee; Member Research Board and Chief Warden, Gokhale Hostel in the University of Rajasthan. Professor Shishodia was also Founder Director of Institute of Informatics and Instrumentation; Director Indira Gandhi Centre for Human Ecology, Environment and Population Studies in University of Rajasthan. He has served for about 3 years at the North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong also. He initiated and strengthened Certificate, BCA, DCA , MCA , M.Sc(IT) and M.Sc (Environment Sciences) courses. He was also Member , Board of Governors of RAJCOMP ( Rajasthan State Agency for Computer Services) and Consultant to SBBJ ,Jaipur and Bank of Rajasthan ( now ICICI) on IT related matters.
Professor is recipient of Rajasthan University Gold Medal for M.Sc Physics examination and Gold Medals form , Maharaja College for B. Sc and SAP High School for High School examinations. He holds Master’s Degree(1966) in Physics, Ph D (1972)in Science. He has done post-doc work at Institute of Physics, University of Uppsala Sweden ( 1972-73); International Centre for Theoretic Physics, Trieste, Italy (1981), Institute of Technology, University of Uppsala, Sweden(1984-85), University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ( 1986, 88, 90). He has made extended study visits to universities in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain ,Egypt, Malaysia , Singapore and USA.
The major research interests of Professor Shishodia has been initiated positron annihilation research work at University of Rajasthan, study of Nuclear moments of Neutron deficient isotopes by Atomic Beam Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, design of beam transport system for ABMR apparatus from CERN(Geneva) proton synchrotron, development of low cost plasma fusion device, development of sequenced nitrogen lasers, applications of Sumudu transform technique to physical problems. Fourteen students have obtained Ph D Degree under his guidance.
Professor Shishodia has made significant contributions to development of experimental techniques and apparatus for physics education. He has been associated with the Centre for development of Physics Education since its establishment. The Books ‘Physics Through Experiment I, EMF Constant and Varying’ and “Physics Through Experiment II Mechanical Processes”, published by Vikas Publishing House are RECOMMENDED by UGC in the Model Curriculum for B.Sc Physics. These have been reviewed favourably in American Journal of Physics, USA. He has bee Plenary Speaker at the International Conferences in Physics Education at Malaysia(1981), Duisburg, Germany (1985) and Cairo, Egypt (1987).
Professor Shishodia is RECIPIENT of FIRST PRIZE at the APPARATUS COMPETITION organized by American Association of Physics Teachers at New York, USA in 1979. He has been, amongst other, United Nations University-International Centre for Theoretical Physics fellow, Swedish International Development Authority fellow and Swedish Agency for research and Cooperation fellow.
