Distinct edge
BA.LLB/ BBA.LLB is a Five years integrated programme, spread over ten semesters.
Though the primary method of instruction is classroom lectures, we give a lot of
emphasis on practical training, research and self-study. We also conduct several
guest lectures, seminars, symposia where top professionals in the legal profession,
academicians, judges and Lawyers are invited to speak on various contemporary issues
so that our students get exposure to the real and diverse aspects of the profession
thereby providing wider exposure to substantial and procedural Laws. The classrooms
are spacious, well equipped with latest technological amenities and the well equipped
library having all important journals, periodicals and reference as well as text
books authored by experts of all important subjects. Great importance is given to
the practical aspect of the theoretical foundation.
Objective of the Programme:
To produce competent Advocates, Law Schools are expected to impart quality education
so that their foundation should be strong. It is well known facts that many people
get LL.B. degree but hardly few of them are in a position to be successful as practising
Advocates. Keeping in view this aspect Bar Council of India has introduced LL.B.
5 years integrated course after Higher Secondary and which is showing better results
at least in few leading Law Schools and Law Universities mainly due to the fact
that the Bar Council of India has framed an comprehensive syllabus in which all
related disciplines namely, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, History, Economics
having relevance in the legal profession have been included.
Skill Enhancement Programme
Practical training programmes like Court visits and Moot court programme are introduced
effectively so as to provide proper and needful training to the Law students on
the pattern of other professional disciplines like Medicine and Engineering. It
is intended that main thrust should be on practical training programme which is
to be conducted by inviting senior advocates from the Bar in coordination with the
Dean/Director and other faculty members so that students of the Law School of Jagan
Nath University are groomed initially at the school in a proper manner so that they
may be in a position to have strong foundation which is very essential for a successful
Advocate.
Orientation and Methodology
Today, law is a field of study that offers the recipient a wide range of career
options, each requiring different skills but also possessing common characteristics.
The options are endless in terms of practice areas and work environments. Lawyers
might find themselves arresting a ship or zoning a playground, working independently
in their home or with others in high rise corporate offices. Lawyers can practice
law by helping clients plan to avoid problems, by solving problems once they develop,
by representing and counseling businesses in a particular industry, by representing
individuals sharing a common status or problems and by appearing (or not appearing)
in court.
Current and useful subjects e.g. Intellectual Property, Law and Technology, Cyber
Law and Cyber crimes, Environmental studies along with Regulatory and Relevant Law,
Business Law, Law of Contract and Torts. Subjects dealing with Procedural and Substantive
Criminal and Civil Law would be taught exhaustively along with latest case law .It
would not be out of context to state that in order to ensure proper and meaningful
grooming of the students of the Law School all sincere and meaningful effort would
be made.
They would also be taught Non-Law Subjects which have much relevance in Legal education
viz. Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, History, English and Foreign
Languages like French and German which would be given much significance during the
Pre-Law studies of the Law students. Conclusively it can be safely claimed that
