Dr. Gurusharan Varandani did his LL.B and LL.M. from campus Law centre of Delhi University and was member of Teaching Faculty of campus Law centre of Delhi University; subsequently he joined Law faculty of Kurukshetra University in the year 1975 as a regular lecturer of the Law Faculty of Kurukshetra University. He was awarded Ph.D. from Krukshetra University in the year 1986 and subsequently he was elevated to the position of Professor and Dean of Law faculty of Krukshetra University for two consecutive terms. Dr. Varandani also served as Chairman Department of Law, Kurekshetra University during his vast career spanning over three decades.

He Remained convener of various committees dealing with Administrative and Examination system of the University and was Chairman for many important committees of the Krukshetra University.

Dr. Varandani also served as Professor; Dean & Head of the P.G. Department of Law of Sambhalpur University, Sambhalpur for one year in the year 1990.He has been a member of Evaluation system of Law for more than Thirty Universities.

Dr. Varandani has the privilege of being Director of Dogra Law College, Jammu from September 2005 to September 2008.

Areas of specialization:-

Labour laws, Property Laws, Torts and Environmental Law. Guided research activities in the field of E-Commerce, Cyber crimes, Industrial Law, Discrimination against women, Right to commit suicides etc for grant of Ph.D. degree. Guided more than fifty LL.M. candidates in all the disciplines of Law, particularly, Environmental Law and Industrial Law. Published three books independently with the titles ?Workers participation in Management?, ?Social Security for Industrial Workers?, ?Women worker and Child Labour? with a forward by Legal Jurist Professor Upendera Baxi and was published by Ashish Publications (APH) New Delhi in the year 1974. Organized International Seminar in the capacity of Executive Member of Law Asia in Hotel Taj in the year 1990, in which Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Professors and Advocates from Australia, New Zealand, China, Srilanka, Malaysia, etc. Participated. Organized International seminar on Copyright and Neighboring Rights as Chairman of the Law Department and convener of the seminar in which more than sixty International and Indian experts participated as a resource person. Dr. Varandani contributed articles in more than twenty International and National seminars and chaired different sessions including seminars organized by the Delhi University, Punjab University, Utkal University, Jammu University and Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and published more than twenty articles in the field of Labour Laws, Intellectual Property Laws, Copyright and Neighboring rights, Laws protecting disabled persons, Defamations etc. Besides this he has been visiting professor of many Universities and Institutes including ILI, New Delhi

Membership of various organizations and Bodies:-

Remained member of Advisory committee of the Journal (2002-2006) of Indian Law Institute, Delhi and is Life member of the Institute. Remained member of the executive body of Lawasra. Remained Law Expert for the Grant of Common Wealth scholarship to LL.M., Ph.D., students by the Government of Canada.

Examination Activities:-

Worked for more than one decade with U.P.S.C. New Delhi; as a Law expert for the Examination system holding Top- Level positions with U.P.S.C. New Delhi connected with the Examination/Evaluation system of more than thirty Universities. Remained Governor's Nominee in the selection committee of Gorakhpur University and Ruhel Khand University, Barielly. and member of selection committees of more than Ten Universities including Delhi and Punjab Universities. Remained observer of Entrance Examination for admissions to M.B.B.S and B.D.S. for more than three years conducted by C.B.S.E, Delhi Evaluated more than Twenty PhD thesis and conducted Viva-Voice Examination of more than ten candidates.
